I
really miss living close to the sea. Before I moved to Belgium, I
always lived maximum half an hour from the sea. It's especially hard
now that the weather down here is over 30°C.
Truth is, I prefer a cool climate – not too cold of course, but
still I'd prefer a rainy 20°C
to a humid 32°C. I get
overly tired, lose my appetite and get grumpy walking around in warm
environments, but at least being close to the sea makes it bearable.
I
was in Ireland last week for five days or so, mostly in Dublin, but
was itching to see a bit of the good ol' Irish coast as well! About
25 minutes from central Dublin is Howth, an old fishing village best
known for its rich inhabitants and gorgeous views. You can even see
the Northern Irish and Welsh coasts from the hills of Howth, although to be honest it was so foggy we didn't see much of either. We
walked around for a good four hours or so, only stopping at a pub for
lunch (freshly gathered local mussels in garlic broth, yum!) and
several panoramic breaks. If you have lots of spare time in Dublin, I
highly recommend taking a day trip to little ol' Howth :) Such a grand place.
