The Shanghai Bund, or Waitan, as seen from the wonderful rooftop bar at the Fairmont Peace Hotel. This area is not only one of the most photographed in Shanghai, it's chock full with history. The entire Bund used to be part of the International Settlement, and housed numerous historical banks and trading posts. You're going to visit it eventually if you go to Shanghai, but do go to the Fairmont for the view. Best decision I made in Shanghai.
